Hey there, Krysten here! Today, I want to share with you how I got into User Generated Content (UGC).
First off–I’m (just a tad) over 40 and I absolutely love social media with zero shame. I find it to be a great way to keep up with friends and family, and also to explore new things. One day, I stumbled across UGC and I was immediately intrigued.

“Making videos about stuff you already like? Count me in!”
UGC is a form of content marketing where regular people like you and me create content for brands. It can be anything from a post on social media to a full-fledged video. What’s great about it is that it allows regular people to work with brands they love and get free products or even paid for their content. So, I signed up with a creator platform to start exploring this world of UGC.
Once I signed up, I started to make some sample videos with stuff around my house. I didn’t have a fancy setup, but I did make a simple backdrop with stuff from the dollar store and purchased a tripod on Amazon. From there, I replied quickly to all of the opportunities available to me on the platform and sent personalized messages to each company I was interested in working with when I applied. Nothing too complex, just a few lines to let the company know I’d done my research, liked their product, and would be interested in working together.
After I’d gotten some responses, and my first few products arrived, I thought about concepts for each of them and wrote scripts. I created the videos, posted them, and sent the content to the brand. I asked the brand to leave me a review if they liked what they saw and I also reviewed them.
One of the biggest advantages of UGC is that it is not hard or intimidating. It’s something that anyone can do. It’s about being creative and having fun. UGC is a great way to build your portfolio and showcase your skills, no matter what they are. The more content you create, the more opportunities you will have to work with brands you love.
As I progressed with UGC, I was accepted into the Amazon influencer program. This was a great opportunity for me as it allowed me to add products I received to my storefront before I posted them. This helped me to showcase the products on a larger scale, and also allowed me to earn a commission on any sales made through my storefront.
In conclusion, UGC has been an amazing journey for me so far. It has allowed me to work with brands that I love or be introduced to new brands. It helped build my portfolio, and earn some extra cash on the side. It’s not hard to get started with UGC, and it’s not intimidating.
Also, YOU ARE NOT TOO OLD TO BE HERE! Brands and companies need people of all ages, shades, and sizes to help them sell their products. That means YOU.
All you need is a little creativity, a willingness to learn, and an open mind. If I can do it, so can you!
